Expose Criminals Among Herdsmen, Emir of Kano Tells MACBAN
The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has called on the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN to expose killer herdsmen in their midst.
He said this at the national executive council meeting of MACBAN in Minna, Niger State at the weekend.
The monarch and former Governor of the Central Bank bemoaned the situation where every Fulani herdsman is now tagged as a killer.
Calling on Nigerians not to give the present herdsmen/farmers crisis any ethnic colouration, the monarch stated that criminals have no tribal marks.
Also at the meeting were Prof. Ango Abdullahi, the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo Musdafa, Dr Aliyu Tilde and other stakeholders.
The emir urged the MACBAN to tap the opportunity being provided by the governments of Kogi, Kano, Nasarawa and Niger States that had promised to allocate lands for the herdsmen to establish cattle colonies.
In his remarks, the Zonal Chairman of the National Executive Committee, MACBAN, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, noted that “conflict between herdsmen and farmers has a long history; the solution has been to engage all stakeholders to find an amicable solution to the conflict.”
