Fayose Writes PDP Leaders On His Presidential Ambition
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has written letters to leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party over his ambition to run for the presidency in 2019.
The letter, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent read in part, “My dear leaders, it is with a deep sense of responsibility that I write to inform you of my intention to seek the mandate/ticket of our party to contest the 2019 presidential election.”
Fayose will be going contrary to the party’s zoning formula by his ambition.
The party had already zoned the position of president to the north and national chairman to the southwest during his last national convention.
Meanwhile, the governor had visited the PDP Chairman of the Board of Trustees Walid Jibrin, at his residence in Abuja, where he solicited his support for his ambition.
However, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said he was surprised that Fayose could be aspiring to be president despite the decision of the party.
Calling on the governor to respect the decision of the party, Adeyeye said that the governor had not shown a good example to members of the party.
He said, “As a party leader and position of Fayose in PDP, how will he want others to behave if he is arbitrarily going against the decision of the party.”
But Fayose said that he has the right to contest, going by the constitution of Nigeria.
