FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO USE SEIZED PROPERTIES AS OFFICES – Kemi Adeosun

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun disclosed that the federal government is looking to save money as the money spent on renting of offices is high and a plan has come up to use buildings seized from looters as office space.

This was made known to members of the National Steering Committee of the Efficiency Unit during a meeting yesterday the 10th of June.

She stated that since the beginning of this administration over a year ago, the federal government has seized over 350 buildings through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) and the  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, (ICPC).

She went on to state that for about three years, the annual average expenditure of the government on rent was about N3.55 billion and ways were being sourced to reduce this expenditure by using buildings forfeited by treasury looters.
