Following the directive of the Federal High Court Abuja that the Federal Government must complete the process of proscription and tagging of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB as terrorist group, a gazette has been prepared.
A copy of the document titled, ‘Terrorism (Prevention) (Proscription Order) Notice, 2017’ is contained in Volume 104 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette.
This is a part of the document ordered by the court to the Federal Ministry of Justice to finalize the proscription and designation of IPOB as a terrorist organization.
Signed by the Minister of Justice, Abubalkar Malami, the four-page document was printed by the Federal Government printer in Lagos dated September 20, 2017.
It reads that the activities of the IPOB is now illegal and seen as terrorism in all parts of the country, following the order of the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdu Kafarati.
