FG To Investigate into Why Big Brother Naija is Shot in South Africa
The federal government via the ministry of Information and Culture has ordered an investigation into why the ongoing reality show, Big Brother Naija is being shot in South Africa.
This was made known by Alhaji Lai Mohammed the minister of Information and Culture who said he has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), to open an investigation into the case.
Alhaji Lai Mohammed in a statement today in Abuja said that the NBC would be required to determine if the show which is being shot in South Africa and is produced by Multi-Choice, has in any way breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.
This becomes imperative considering that it is staged and made to seem as though they are shooting in Nigeria which brings up the issue of public deceit, since viewers weren’t told it is being staged outside Nigeria.
”As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” the honourable minister said.
He also disclosed that his office has been bombarded with a lot of calls to complain about the so called anomaly, i.e. shooting outside the country a show meant for Nigerians, and that the public should remain calm while NBC investigates and submits its findings.
