FG To Roll 2017 Projects To 2018 Budget
The Federal Government will be rolling some of the 2017 projects into the 2018 budget, the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has revealed.
She said this when she appeared before the Senate Joint Committees on Finance and Appropriations, adding that the government would continue to implement the 2017 capital projects in the 2018 budget proposal.
Adeosun who was accompanied by the Minister for Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udoma said that the decision to roll over 2017 budget to 2018 was based on the advice of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and Finance to the executive.
To make the budget implementable, the government had taken to the committee’s advice to rollover from 2017 to 2018 as it did between 2016 and 2017, Adeosun said.
“There was no stoppage in terms of capital spent as projects simply continued.
She said that the government would ensure priority in the completion of the projects as she urged the lawmakers to support the executive in resolving the issue of international borrowing.
On his part, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udoma, said the Federal Government has been working and trying to get the 2018 budget to the Senate before the end of October.
