FG Will Not Hike Fuel Price – Osinbajo
The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said that the Federal Government will not increase the pump price of petroleum despite plots by the oil marketers to force it.
Professor Osinbajo said this during his visit to Lagos to monitor some filling stations as more petroleum products are being shipped into the country.
Osinbajo was at Lekki-Ajah, VGC on the Christmas Eve and spent part of his days in Apapa Lagos on Christmas day to monitor the movements of the products.
The vice president observed that the scarcity occurred because there was an inadequate supply of petroleum products to some of the depots, adding that things will get better by the day with more Premium Motor Spirit being supplied now.
He said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is very much concerned about Nigerians and how we can quickly end the fuel scarcity crisis in the country.”
“We hope that in the next couple of days, we would be able to end the fuel queues,” Osinbajo said.
He warned marketers who hoarded fuel to desist from such behaviour, adding that law enforcement agents had been instructed to fish such marketer out and arrest him or her.
Earlier at the stakeholders’ interaction meeting, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, said that the long queues would be over by Wednesday.
