FOREX Scarcity: CBN Directs Customers To Report Their Banks
The Central Bank of Nigeria has called on commercial banks to always attend to the forex needs of their customers to enable them to transact business and other activities.
The apex bank said this on Wednesday as it accused some commercial banks of refusing their customers’ personal travel allowance, PTA, business travel allowance, BTA and foreign exchange for pilgrimage.
In a press statement by the apex bank’s Director, Corporate Communications Department, Isaac Okoroafor, the bank appealed to bank customers to return to their banks to buy forex as the CBN has supplied enough dollars to the Banks to meet needs in the invisible segment.
He added that customers are enjoined to report any commercial bank that refuses to attend to their legitimate demands within twenty-four hours.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has regularly supplied dollars to commercial banks since the steady fall of Naira.
