Lagos is becoming more beautiful by the day, successive administrations have done a lot to make it so. More filling stations are now dispensing Premium Motor Spirit, after a week-long of scarcity.
The queues at the petrol stations have vanished. Travelling time has reduced for Lagosians to do more shopping as the New Year knocks silently.
The present Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s “Light Up Lagos” initiative brightens the aquatic splendour of Lagos with shining light in the night that brings out the aesthetic nature of the metropolis.
The business hub of Nigeria is terrific at night and in the day children play and sleep to enjoy the harmattan wind.
The amusement parks are bubbling, shopping malls are widely opened for tourists and picnickers. The state Police Command has not left anything to chance as police patrol vans move around the city to provide the necessary security.
There has not been any incident of armed robbery since the yuletide. However, there were two road accidents, which claimed one life and six injured.
Last Sunday, the state Government declared opened the annual Lagos Fiesta in six zones. These include Epe, Badagry, Lagos Island, Ikeja, Agege and Victoria Island.
It will get to the climax on the eve of the New Year to usher in 2018. Such music stars like Davido, Wizkid, Tuface and older ones like King Sunny Ade and Queen Salawa Abeni are in town to treat residents with their sonorous voices.
The state governor, Ambode has been feeling thankful. He was in Epe on Tuesday where he expressed his gratitude to taxpayers and Lagosians for the support he had enjoyed since he assumed office over two years ago.
