Gunmen Kill Family of Four In Taraba
Unknown gunmen but suspected to be herdsmen have killed a man, Sunday Sabo, his wife and two children. Tragedy struck again in Mbiya village in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Our correspondent gathered that the members of the family were shot to death despite the ongoing military operation dubbed ‘Operation Ayem Akpatuma’ in the area.
The deceased, according to a source were farmers but were hacked to death in their sleep by the marauder herdsmen.
“They committed the murder late in the night and fled before members of the community could wake up,” a resident said.
It was learnt that the gunmen came at about 1 am on Wednesday when residents were fast asleep to do the killings.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Taraba State on Media, Mr Bala Dan Abu, confirmed the attack and further said that the incident had been reported to relevant security agencies.
In a statement signed by Abu, the state Governor Darius Ishaku expressed grieve over the incessant killings in the state.
Two weeks ago, an elder statesman, former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma has called on the people of Taraba to defend themselves against the herdsmen incursion.
