Gunmen Kill Sergeant Eneojo Paul, Steal Two AK47 Rifles
Gunmen invaded Romantic Bakery Industry in Lafia, Nasarawa State at the weekend, killed a police officer Sgt. Eneojo Paul, and made away with two AK47 rifles.
The assailants also stole the sum of N2.5m, belonging to the bakery, according to eyewitnesses.
The gunmen did the operation at about 10pm Friday. They came in black Toyota Camry with no number plate and shot sporadically to the air to scare the workers at the bakery.
Investigation revealed that two policemen were attached to the bakery but one of them was not on duty.
On sighting the sergeant who was on duty, the hoodlums shot at him and took away his rifle and that of his colleagues who was not on duty.
“They burgled the Bakery safe where they took N2.5 million and escaped, according to eyewitnesses.
However, the shot sergeant died while being rushed to Dalhatu Specialist Hospital, Lafia.
“The slain police officer might not have died if the inspector who was said to have gone out for a personal business was around when the robbers came,” a source said.
Meanwhile the Nasarawa State Police Command has commenced investigation into the robbery and the killing, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Idirisu Kenndy, said.
He said that the police would do all within their capacity to ensure that the perpetrators of the gruesome murder are brought to book.
He also called on members of the community to furnish the police with necessary information that can lead to the arrest of the criminals.
