Heavy Rainfall: Two Lagos Pupils Die After Falling Into Septic Tank
Two pupils of Bright Future Academy Omikunle area of Ijaiye, Lagos State died on Thursday when they fell into a septic tank during a heavy downpour.
The pupils while returning from school around 4:30 pm when it began to rain and in their effort to hide from the downpour, they fell into a septic tank and died.
The pupils, identified as Farouk Jagun 16 and Olumide Olaegbe 15 were in Senior Secondary School 2.
According to the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, the pupils were rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby but they gave up the ghost at the medical centre.
He said, “The incident happened on March 29, 2018, at about 4:30pm. It was reported at the station on the evening of that same day.
However, another source said that the pupils had died before they were taken to the hospital, adding that their dead bodies were seen around Casso Bus Stop floating on water.
“They removed the dead bodies from water and took them to the hospital,” the source said.
“It was their school uniform that made us know that dead bodies were in the flood because” he added.
