Herdsmen Attack: Ondo Monarchs Go Against Cattle Colonies
The traditional rulers in Ondo state have kicked against the establishment of cattle colonies in their domains, calling on the state Governor Mr Rotimi Akeredolu to pass their message to the Federal Government.
The monarchs who met at the palace of Ogbolu of lta Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode said that they would not give their lands to herdsmen as cattle colonies and that they have sensitized their people not to cede their lands to such project.
The monarchs under the auspices of 130 Krown Club called on Akeredolu to make his position on the cattle colony known to Ondo people instead of being indifferent to it.
According to them, the attacks by herdsmen are increasing on a daily basis across the state while the government has failed to stem the brutality of the cattle breeders.
Speaking, the Ogbolu of lta Ogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko Oba Samuel Adedoyin-Adegbite, Olupe of Ipe-Akoko, Oba Francis Makanjuola Apata and Aladeokun of Idanre, Oba Olusegun Akinbola, the monarchs said that the herdsmen invaded the communities around Ondo State in convoy about a week ago.
“What we learnt is that they were chased away from Iseyin, Oyo State because of their attacks on their host communities. They have arrived Ondo State and we will not allow them to stay here,” the monarchs echoed.
