Herdsmen Kill 24 In 2 Days In Benue
No fewer than 24 innocent persons have been killed in a fresh attack by herdsmen on residents of Benue State.
Members of the House of Representatives from the State said this during the plenary on Thursday as they lamented the continuous killings since the termination of the military operation, tagged, “Operation Cat Race” in the state.
The lawmakers said that between April 2 and 4, about 24 persons had been killed in some communities across the Benue State as they called for more military presence in the state.
They asked the Federal Government to tag the herdsmen terrorists and fight them like Boko Haram insurgents.
The members who spoke to our correspondent were Mr Samuel Udende; Mr Dickson Takighir; Mr John Dyegh and Mr Mark Terseer-Gbillah.
They lamented that the killings took place without any resistance by the military.
They bemoaned the sudden termination of the “Operation Cat Race” in Benue while the operation was allowed to go on in other violent states of Taraba and Zamfara.
In the analysis of the killings, the lawmakers stated that the latest attacks occurred in Ikyon and Agasha on April 3 and April 4, 2018; in Semaka, Asom, Babanruwa on April 3, 2018, and in Udei and Umenger on April 2, 2018.
