Herdsmen: Resign Now, Catholic Bishops Tell Buhari
The umbrella body of Catholic bishops under the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.
The bishops made this call, following the killings of two Catholic priests and 15 other worshippers in Benue church by the herdsmen a few days ago.
The bishop’s conference advised the president to take the path of honour by simply step aside instead of supervising a country that has been turned to slaughter slabs for herdsmen.
In a communique, signed by the CBCN’s president Most Rev. Augustine Akubeze, and Secretary, Most Rev. Camillus Umoh, the group condemned the continuous killings of innocent souls in some parts of the country.
The communique titled, “When will this barbarism end?” noted that the country had been turned to a graveyard and the best option now is for Buhari to step down.
According to them, the Tuesday killings in Benue was carefully planned by the marauders who carefully entered the church to kill two priests, Fr. Joseph Gor and Fr. Felix Tyolaha.
The bishops said that the killings of priests during morning mass showed the wicked act of the herdsmen who knew that the priests and the congregation had no weapon to defend themselves.
