HISTORY MADE AS AN ARMY RESERVE OFFICER (Deshauna Barber) WINS MISS USA PAGEANT

History was made yesterday at the Miss USA pageant when Deshauna Barber, a 26 year old army reserve officer beat the odds to be crowned Miss USA.

She made history as a black woman and also a serving army officer.

Her break out moment during the pageant was when she was asked by one of the judges,  Joe Zee if the Pentagon’s decision to open up combatant duties to women had “put political correctness over our military’s ability to perform”

She replied that she thought it was a good decision by Pentagon considering that as the leader of her unit, she was as capable and as strong and tough as the men, reiterating her stance that gender doesn’t play any limiting role.

She hopes to use he profile as Miss USA to bring to the fore health issues veterans face when they return from combat.
