Hoodlums Set Imo State APC Secretariat Ablaze
Unknown gangs have set ablaze the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Imo State ablaze.
The inner part of the secretariat got burnt with some valuable documents as the state prepares to hold the party’s local government congress this Saturday.
When our correspondent visited the secretariat located at junction Imo State University junction in Owerri on Friday evening, it was observed that the smoke from the burnt secretariat had not subsided.
Members of staff of the secretariat stood far from the building and refused to talk to our correspondent.
At the time that our correspondent visited the place, no fire service was on site to put out the fire.
Commenting on the incident the state party chairman, Hilary Eke, accused members of a faction of the party.
He said that the unidentified hoodlums attacked the secretariat “just to frustrate the Local Government Areas Congress of the party on Saturday”, vowed that the exercise must go on.
He insisted that the contentious ward congress of the party was successful, urging those “who lost during the last weekend exercise to give peace a chance.”
“I have been in a meeting ahead of the LGA congress of the party in Imo State.
“Those who attacked the secretariat the other Saturday are likely to be the same people who set it on fire on Friday (today).
