How FG Killed Alex Ekwueme – Campaign For Democracy

The Campaign for Democracy has alleged Federal Government of killing former Vice President, Dr Alex Ekwueme.

The elder statesman died in a London Hospital about two weeks ago after he slumped in his home, Enugu Nigeria and was consequently flown abroad for quality treatment.

Reacting to the death of the second republic leader, the National Publicity Secretary and chairman, South East Zone for CD, Dede Uzor alleged that the government flew Ekwueme abroad and abandoned him in the hospital.

He said that Ekwueme actually died of depression and frustration when he heard that the government had refused to pay his medical bills.

Recalled that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff Abba Kyari said that the government would not be responsible for Ekwueme’s medical bill.

Uzor stated that the government was unfair to the elder statesman who served the country meritoriously throughout his life but was abandoned to die in London hospital.

He blamed the government, adding that the former vice president should have been allowed to take care of himself in Nigeria instead of dabbling into the issue that led to his death.

“Dr Ekwueme was a contented person. He never troubled any successive governments even though, he was being owed. He took care of himself.”
