How Nigeria Can Do Better – Bill Gates
Philanthropist and Microsoft Founder, Mr Bill Gates has said again that Nigeria will do better if only he can invest more in education and health of its people.
He said this during an exclusive interview with the CNN, adding that the Federal Government investment on education and health is not good enough.
Gates who had earlier met with the country’s National Economic Council said he had to be blunt in his approach so that the government could redirect its policies to favour the health and education of the young generation.
According to him, there is a need for the government to invest in education and health instead of spending so much on physical infrastructure to the detriment of human capital development.
He told the government last Thursday that Nigeria is one of the worst places to give birth, judging by the high rate of maternal mortality.
Gates told the government that its economic policy did not support the actual needs of the people.
However, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai disagreed with Gates, saying that the Federal Government policies had taken care of education and health but that it would need the state governments to complement it.
