How We Arrested Notorious Kidnapper, Chukwudidumeme Onwuamadike (A.K.A. Evans) – Police
The Nigeria Police has opened up on how its foot soldiers apprehended the notorious kidnapper, Chukwudidumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans.
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris’ Intelligence Response Team, IRT sneaked into the Magodo, Lagos residence of the dreaded kidnapper early Saturday and caught him like a chicken, the force headquarters revealed.
Regarded as the richest kidnaper in the country, he was caught right inside his room while taking a nap, police source said.
Before he was arrested, the police had declared him wanted and placed the sum of N30 million on his head for whosesoever could provide information to his arrest.
Information revealed that Evans shuttled between Nigeria and Ghana where he had a property and hid his family.
Findings revealed that Evans cried like a baby when the policemen entered his room.
He said, “I know this is the end, I am finished”.”
Evans as he is fondly called has been linked to high profile kidnapping, including the foiled attempt of the founder of Young Shall Grow Transport.
In his confession, he told the police that one Emeka introduced him to the crime and since then he had involved in so many kidnap cases.
The police had earlier arrested some of his lieutenants who had their hideouts in Igando Area of Lagos State.
Evans allies confessed and helped the police in their investigation that eventually led to the arrest of the notorious Evans.
The police recovered such items as expensive phones, one of which is put at a cost of $6,000.
