Human Skull for Sale in Akwa Ibom
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command will be prosecuting four young men in possession of human skull.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Delia Nwawe told journalist that the four suspects, namely Emmanuel Edet Ikot, 17, from Edeabasi, Oron; Ubong Udong, 18; Bright Effiong Okon, 19 and Okon Ita, 20, from Orukim were arrested while trying to sell the skull to a native doctor in Mbo Local Government Area of the state.
According to Nwawe, the suspects were apprehended by the operatives of Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the state police command and would soon be charged to court.
However, one of the suspects, Emmanuel Edet, told Elevatenews that he did not dig a grave to bring out the skull neither did he kill anybody but that he found the human skull in an uncompleted building.
As he put it, “I was hired to clear a bush in an uncompleted building at Oron and stumble on the human skull.”
He said that he alerted his colleagues to tell them the horrible thing he had found but they suggested that the skull should be sold.
“I have never sold human skull in my life. I’m a labourer. They suggested we should go to a native doctor in Mbo. But when we got there, the native doctor called the police for our arrest,” he lamented.
Sales of human parts are becoming a trendy issue by the day. Three weeks ago, two people were arrested with human skull in Niger State by the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps.
