I Did Not Berate APC’s Governors’ Forum – Tinubu
A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has said that he never berated the opinion of the Progressives Governors chaired by Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha in choosing a presidential candidate for 2019 election.
Tinubu said this in a statement released by his media aide, Mr Tunde Rahman, adding that the former Governor of Lagos State was misquoted by journalists.
Tinubu spoke in Akure where he said that APC would not handpick President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term but would organize presidential primaries to choose a candidate.
He said this a few weeks after the APC governors endorsed Buhari at the party’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
Reacting to Tinubu’s views, Okorocha said that the APC national leader was only crying more than the bereaved and had no right to kick against the governors’ decision on Buhari.
While clarifying himself in the statement, Tinubu denied kicking against the governors’ decision, adding that the governors are stakeholders in the party and have critical roles to perform in electing a candidate for the presidential election.
Tinubu whom himself was a governor said that the journalists had misquoted him, adding that there was no time he castigated the governors for endorsing Buhari.
