I have No Candidate For Any Political Office In 2019 Election – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he has no candidate for any political office in 2019.

He said this when a group of youths led by a Delta State governorship aspirant Frank Esanubi paid him a courtesy visit at the Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He said that he had since quit partisan politics since 2015 and had joined the Coalition For Nigeria Movement so as to carry grassroots people along in the politics and governance of Nigeria.

He said that the letter he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari was not to disrespect the office of the president but to only offer advice when things were not going the right way in the country.

He stated that as past president, he could offer advice, which is left for the incumbent to heed but that his letter should not be seen as contempt to Buhari.

Obasanjo stated that he had quit partisan politics and prefer to be an elder statesman. He explained that he did not have any candidate and that he would quit CNM if the group becomes a political party.

My letter was thoroughly thought out before writing it and it was not meant to disrespect the office of the president.
