I Stand By My Statement On Buhari – IBB
Former Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (RETD) has said that his statement on President Muhamadu Buhari stands.
His spokesman, Prince Kazeem Afegbua said this on Channel Television to clear the air over a contrary statement denying the first statement issued by the former Head of State.
Babangida had advised Buhari to step aside and not contest in 2019 so that a new set of leaders, mostly youths could take over the governance of this country.
A few hours after the statement went viral both in the conventional and online media platform, another one was released signed by IBB to debunk the first statement.
However, while asking questions on Channel television, Afebgua said he sought an audience with IBB before the statement was released and that the second statement was written by the former head of state who is equally close to Buhari.
The second statement, which was equally signed by IBB, according to Afegbua did not originally emanate from Babangida but those who did not want him to go against Buhari.
He stated that as soon as the second statement went on the social media, Babangida called him to disrespect it, adding that he stood by all his words in the first statement.
“I have done this job for 14 years and always seek the consent of my boss before releasing any statement on any issue,” Afegbua explained.
