I Would Have Involved In Herders/Farmers Mayhem – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari said on Thursday that perhaps he would have been involved in the lingering crisis between herders and farmers in some parts of the country if he had not gone to school.
He said during his two-day working visit to Bauchi as he addressed youths in the state to embrace education and refuse to join the killer group in the country.
He said, “My people are cattle breeders and I would have been a herder if I had not gone to school. But because I went to school and joined the army, I am not a herder today.”
He explained that those who now engaged in various attacks perhaps had no cows anymore to breed and had to take arms against others.
President Buhari emphasized on education, saying it is the best way now to be a better person in life as he challenged the youths of Bauchi to embrace quality education.
“You should strive hard and be educated, get the education that will benefit you and the society, it is not compulsory that government will give you what to do,” he said.
The president used the occasion to reiterate his commitment to better the country as he met, adding that he would seek reelection and win in 2019.
