IBB’s Press Statement: My Life Is In Danger, Afegbua Says
Mr Kassim Afegbua, the Spokesman for former military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida has said that his life is in danger following threatening calls he has been receiving from unknown people.
He told our correspondent that since he left the headquarters of the Department of State Service in Abuja on Friday, he had been receiving strange calls threatening him and his family members.
He stated that after presenting himself to the police over the press statement he released on behalf of Babangida, in which Babangida advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to contest in 2019 election, and was discharged without any charges, he received a call from the Directorate of State Service to report at their office.
He said that he was at the DSS on Thursday and nobody attended to him until late in the night when an officer asked him to return on Friday.
He stated that he got to the DSS at 11 am on Friday and after two hours, he was interrogated by the DSS Director of Operation over the statement he released.
“They collected my passport number, my residence address and some other information just because I released a statement with which the real actor, Babangida never raised any case of libel. They treated me like a common criminal,” he said.
Afegbua, however, narrated his ordeal since he left the DSS office, adding that he had been receiving strange calls threatening him and his family members.
