IGP Orders Arrest Of IBB’s Spokesman, Afegbua
The Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris has urged Prince Kazeem Afegbua, the spokesman of the former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida to turn himself up within 24 hours or get arrested by the police.
Idris said that this becomes necessary so that the man could explain why he released the fake press statement to the public in which Babangida had allegedly asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to contest in 2019 election.
In a statement released by the police, Idris said that Afegua is wanted for ” issuing a fake statement.”
Afegbua had released a statement on behalf of Babangida, purportedly calling on Nigerians not to vote Buhari in 2019.
But the former president denied it and issued another one which he personally signed.
Afegbua went on Channel Television, stating that IBB had called him and stood by the press statement.
A government source, who does not want his name in print, confirmed that the IGP had ordered Afegbua’s arrest within24 hours.
