I’m Not Desperate To Become Governor of Oyo State – Shittu
The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has said that he is not desperate to become the next governor of Oyo State as being allegedly speculated by the incumbent, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Shittu told reporters during his visit to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said that Ajomobi is afraid whenever his (Shittu) name is mentioned in Oyo State politics.
The minister said, “Ajimobi is afraid of landing in jail because of the manner he had mismanaged the wealth of Oyo State. The governor thinks that I’m too principled and unbendable and that I will jail him if I become governor.”
Shittu stated that he was not desperate to become governor, adding that he could always fall back and do other business if he could not win the state governorship seat.
However, Ajimobi responded swiftly. He said that Shittu was desperate to become governor to cover up all the allegations against him.
Recalled, one of Shittu’s aides alleged the minister of acquiring properties across the countries since he became a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet about three years ago.
The aide, as reported by the Sahara reporters, an online publication also alleged the minister of failing to pay his worker’ salaries for months, yet he was busy buying properties.
