Isese Day: Govt of Osun Declares Monday Work Free Day

The Government of the State of Osun has declared Monday, August 21 work free day.

This is according to a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent.

The statement read in part, “To commemorate ‘Isese Day’ the annual festival of adherents of traditional religion in the state, the government has since approved August 21 work free day for people to participate fully.”

It noted that the traditional believers across the state and the world will mark the day with fanfare and a lot of social and spiritual activities.

The Isese Day, popularly referred to as Traditional Worshipers Day, is the climax of festivities among adherents of traditional religion.

The government however called on all worshippers to avoid any action that might breach the peace and harmony of the state.

The ‘Isese Day’ work free day in 2017. The day is always fixed on Monday that precede Friday of the grand finale of the annual UNESCO Osun-Osogbo Festival.
