Jubilation In Kano, After Buhari’s Declaration
There was wild jubilation in the ancient city of Kano, Kano State, following the declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari to contest for the second term.
Many of the president’s fans and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC trooped to the road to rejoice over the decision of Buhari.
President Muhammadu Buhari had declared at the APC’s National Executive Committee that he would be contesting again, noting that there is the need to consolidate the works he had done in the last three years.
The president jetted out to the United Kingdom, shortly after the meeting but jubilation continued in Kano.
Speaking, a resident of Kano, Usman Baba, said that Kano had been waiting for “Baba Buhari” to take a decision and now that he had indicated his interest in the second term, he would get the residents votes.
Recalled that Buhari had his highest votes of about two million in Kano in 2015 presidential election.
“We are happy and hoping that President Buhari should return to embark on infrastructural development since he has already retrieved a lot from looters,” Usman said.
Also speaking, Abduljalal Mu’azu, another resident, was of the view that the country would improve with Buhari in power in 2019.
