Kaduna Mayhem: 13 Dead, 18 Arrested, Hundreds Houses Burnt
About 13 people have been reportedly killed in the Kasuwan Magani town, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State crisis.
It was also gathered that many houses and vehicles were burnt during the mayhem that is not yet abated as at the time of filing this report.
The crisis, which has religious colouration began late last week. The State Police Commissioner, Austin Iwar said that 18 persons had been arrested over the crisis and that it would not stop until it unravels the primary cause of the trouble.
The mayhem, learnt to be between Muslims and Christians rekindled the hostility between the two religions in the community.
Speaking at the Senate plenary on Tuesday, the senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani condemned the mayhem, calling on the warring faction to embrace peace.
He lamented that the country had been turned to the centre of war, which of course is now carrying religious colouration.
However, our correspondent gathered that the crisis began because a Christian girl got married to a Muslim boy against her parents wish.
“The girl is planning to become a Muslim because she was married to a Muslim but her family members reject that move,” a source said.
