Kanu Shuns S’East Govs Over Plot To Assassinate Him
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has shunned the meeting with Southeast governors over plot to assassinate him.
He said in a statement made available to our correspondent that he would not be attending the meeting with the governors in Enugu on Friday because of alleged plot by Nigerian Army to kill him.
Kanu said that he would use the period to attend to the IPOB members who were injured by the Nigerian Army during the invasion of his residence in Umuahia, Abia State recently.
He said that some of IPOB members were allegedly killed by the soldiers and instead of him travelling to Enugu for a meeting, he would attend to the bereaved members.
According to the statement, information had reached Umuahia that the soldiers would waylay the IPOB leaders on their way to Enugu to assassinate Kanu.
Parts of the statement read, “In view of the concerted effort by the oppressive Nigerian state to shatter the peace and tranquility of the South-East and the rest of Biafraland through military intimidation, it has become necessary for me to clarify why, regrettably, I may not be able to attend Friday’s meeting with the South-East governors as earlier agreed, for three main reasons.
He alleged that the Nigerian Army would be laying ambush for him in Enugu and in order to maintain peace with his non-violence approach on the Biafra agitation, he would rather stay in Umuahia.
