Kerosene Explosion Kills A Girl In Anambra
A 14-year-old girl, identified as Ada Okpoto, of Nkwelle Ogidi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been burnt to death, following kerosene explosion on Monday.
The explosion also caused varying degrees of injuries for her mother, Mrs Chioma Okpoto and a two-year-old sibling, Akachukwu.
The mother, Chioma, according to the investigation was about to light a stove so that she could prepare dinner for her children when the explosion occurred.
The neighbours who came to scene rushed the three victims to a nearby hospital but Ada could not make it. She died shortly after she arrived at the hospital.
However, Chioma and her two-year-old son were responding to treatment.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident, said that the husband of the victim, Mr Obinna Okpoto reported the case at Ogidi Police Station.
He said “His wife and two children sustained various degrees of burns all over their bodies. The victims were rushed to Twinkle Hospital, Ogidi for medical attention. The daughter, Ada Okpoto, aged 14, was certified dead while receiving treatment.”
The body of the girl had since been deposited at the hospital morgue, the police PR stated.
He advised members of the public to always exercise caution while using combustible substances at home.
