Lassa: Three More People Tested Positive In Lagos
Three out of the 100 people put under surveillance due to the outbreak of Lassa Fever have been tested positive.
The Chief Medical Director of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Professor Chris Bode disclosed this at a joint news conference with the Lagos State Government.
He said that the three had since been admitted and that they were responding to treatment.
Beside a Resident doctor who was earlier infected with the fever, three out of the 100 people under surveillance had been tested positive, Bode confirmed.
However, he said that there was no need for panic as the hospital and the state government had put everything under control.
According to him, there is enough drugs and those under surveillance are being closely monitored.
“If they notice any sudden rise in temperature, they have been directed to show up at the hospital immediately for quick intervention and treatment,” professor Bode stated.
Concerning the infected resident doctor, the CMD said that she is responding to treatment and presently in good health condition.
“Once Lassa fever is detected early and treatment initiated, there is every cause to be optimistic of recovery of the patient,” he explained.
