Looters Denying Their Loots – Buhari

Looters Denying Their Loots - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said on Monday that looters of public assets have been denying ownership of it.

He said this as members of Daura Emirate Coalition visited him at his country home, adding that the Federal Government would sell all the recovered looted assets and keep the proceeds in the national treasury.

Buhari stated that he was not surprised that many would deny ownership of looted assets, adding, ‘That will not stop the investigation.’

Buhari lamented how a civil servant would have 10 houses in Abuja and Kaduna. “But they have continued to deny ownership of the properties,” he said.

President Buhari says that the government is following due process because that is what democracy entails.

“We cannot just imprison suspects, we have to take every legal action to bring them to book,” he stated.

Calling on Nigerians to cooperate with the present administration, Buhari told the members of the emirate to sensitise the public about the effort of the government to improve the economy and curb corruption at all levels.
