Looters’ List: Dokpesi’s US Visa Revoked
The United States Visa of the Founder of Daar Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been revoked.
Dokpesi, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain said this on Wednesday, adding that the US embassy notified him about the development.
Stating the reasons, Dokpesi said that the embassy took such decision because the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed named him in the looters’ list released by the Federal Government a few weeks ago.
Dokpesi was alleged by the Federal Government to have received the sum of N2.1 billion from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki to campaign for the PDP election in 2015.
The government claimed that the money was proceeds of loots because it was taken from the funds meant to procure arms for the country.
Meanwhile, Dokpesi had since sued Mohammed for defamation of character, seeking payment of N5billion damages.
In the suit by his lawyer Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Dokpesi is also praying for a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants or their agents from further making any defamatory publications against him, and N50million as the cost of the action.
The publications, he said, have prejudiced his constitutionally guaranteed rights to presumption of innocence until proven guilty, and that his right to fair hearing as enshrined in the Constitution has been blatantly violated.
