Mace Snatching: Senator Omo-Agege Has Committed Treason-Senate
The Senate has described the action of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the National Assembly complex on Wednesday as treason.
The Senate’s Spokesperson, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi alleged that Omo-Agege was the one that led thugs to the National Assembly to snatch the Mace.
He said that the mace is a symbol of authority, and his removal by an individual is an attempt to overthrow an arm of government.
The mace was snatched by unidentified gangs who invaded the NASS early this morning in the company of Omo-Agege.
The Senate had suspended Omo-Agege about three days ago for 90 days and did not expect him to come to the red chamber but the lawmaker from Delta stormed the place to cause mayhem.
Omo-Agege was arrested by men of the Nigeria Police, shortly after the plenary.
However, the All Progressives Congress, APC had called for the prosecution of Omo-Agege.
He may be charged for a treasonable felony.
