Madrid 3-1 Napoli: Defending Champions See off Italian Opposition
Defending champions, Real Madrid came from a goal down to see-off Napoli 3-1 in the first leg of the second round of their champions league tie.
Real Madrid started the match on the front foot but the first goal came against the run of play with Madrid keeper, Keylor Navas at fault as he was caught off guard and beaten from distance by a strike from Lorenzo Insigne in the eight minute.
At that point it seemed like the match will turn out to be a smash and grab but real Madrid had other answers as the equalizer came from the head of Karim Benzema following an exquisite cross from right back Dani Carvajal 11 minutes later.
From then on Real held the ascendancy and never looked like they would relinquish their hold as midfielder Toni Kroos put the Madrid ahead early in the second half.
The talking point has to be that Cristiano Ronaldo has now gone 523 minutes without a Champions League goal which is his longest drought in the competition at Real Madrid.
The win was sealed as Casemiro scored a stunning volley which would register as one of the goals of the champions league season.
The second leg will be played at the home of the Italians on the 7th of March.
