Makinde’s Outstanding 100 Days In Office
ElevateNews takes a look at the performance of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, compared to his counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State.
Theperformance of the Oyo State Government in the last 100 days shows how preparedthe Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde had been for this job.
The only PDPgovernor in the Southwest hit the ground running with some honourableperformances.
His swiftness in the assemblage of members of his cabinet and the appointment of a 27-year-old graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University into the S
While his counterpart, Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State is still waiting for the order from his godfathers to nominate who will form his cabinet almost a year after his election, Makinde had taken the bull by the horn by making primary and secondary education free in Oyo State.
At present, civil servants in Oyo State receive their salary between 24 and 25 every month. The governor has also integrated the prompt payment of retiree’s entitlement inhis priority list.
Makinde’sbursary allowance to Oyo State indigenes is not just a big deal, it is makingmany of the students to want to study law.
This isbecause every Oyo indigene in law school now collects N500, 000 bursaryallowance. This is unprecedented in the history of Oyo government.
To mark his 100 days in office, Makinde rolls out free exercise books to pupils of primary and secondary schools in the State.
And what makes this greater is that the governor refused to print his name nor that of his party on the books as it was done by the past administrations in the S
His policy on agriculture is to bring about 50,000 farmers in the S
Efforts to make this happen is ongoing. Besides, Makinde’s light-up project, to illuminate the capital of the State, Ibadan and other towns, has begun.
What is going on the social media space now is that the governor’s DNA should be checked to know where he is getting money to fund some of the projects. The past administration had always complained that there was no fund to do projects in the S
There are indications that Governor Makinde will dwarf the achievements of the former APC State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi in a short time. I do not have any doubt in my mind.
Another astounding thing he did since he assumed office was to declare his asset and made it a public issue for people to see and criticize.
It is clearfrom his assets that Makinde is not just rich, he is wealthy with over N40billion in his personal bank accounts.
Openness is his watchword when he said that he never knew that the governor’s salary is about N650,000.
He thoughthe would be earning about N6 million until he became the governor and realisedthat the money to earn is just 10 per cent of what he had thought.
Makindeproscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers to ensure the peace that ispresently being enjoyed in the Pacesetter State. He also ensured the rehabilitationof Adeoyo Hospital, after years of neglect by successive administrations.
