Man Kills 5-Day-Old Child With Insecticide
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Habibu Bala of Ningi Local Government area of the state for allegedly killing his five-day-old son with insecticide.
It was gathered that the man took the life of his baby because he could not afford money to organize the naming ceremony.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Bala committed the crime on January 21 by spraying insecticide on the baby.
“The report was brought to the police division by one Musa Bala who happened to be the brother of the baby’s father,” the police spokesman said.
“As a result, the baby became unconscious and was later taken to Ningi General Hospital, where a medical doctor certified him dead,” he added.
The command stated that Bala had since been arrested and presently in custody for more investigation.
The Police PRO stated that Bala would soon be charged to court. Our correspondent visited Bala’s home to speak to the wife but the woman refused to talk.
However, Bala’s brother Musa who reported the case to the police told our correspondent that Bala deliberately killed the baby because he had been complaining to him of lacking the money to celebrate the naming.
