Man Tells FG To Provide Casket After Wife Dies During Childbirth In Bakassi IDP Camp
One Mr Asuquo Etim, a widower has called on the Federal Government to provide casket so that he could bury his wife who died during childbirth at Bakassi Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camp in Cross River State.
He told our correspondent that his wife, a mother of three was with him at the IDP camp located inside the Government Secondary School, Akwa Ikot Eyo Edem, Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state before she died.
He said that the woman died of a complication during childbirth because she could not push out the placenta after she had been delivered of the baby.
Etim who was visibly angry stated that his wife died because there was no health facility at the camp.
“My wife died in the most tragic way because of poor healthcare facilities. She could have been saved, but due to lack of a health facility anywhere close to the camp, we could not do anything to save her,” he said.
Etim lamented over his predicament, adding that he had no home, job and wife anymore. “I have four children, including a newborn baby to take care. I don’t have a job and a home,” he said.
He stated that he could not bury the wife because there was no means to get a casket as he called on both the state and the federal government to help him out.
