Melaye: Senate Set To Humiliate IGP Idris Live On NTA
It appears that the Senate is prepared for the worse over the arrest and humiliation meted on Senator Dino Melaye, (APC Kogi West) by the Nigeria Police.
The Senate resolved at the plenary on Wednesday that the Inspector General of Police be summoned to explain the growing state of insecurity in Nigeria and of course while his men had treated the senator of the Federal Republic like a common criminal.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki who presided over the plenary directed the Chairman, Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abu Ibrahim to summon Idris to address the plenary Thursday morning at 11:00 am.
He said that the issue of Dino Melaye and killings in some parts of the country would be addressed and given live coverage by the Nigerian Television Authority.
As he put it “Clerk, because of the importance of this, please inform your coverage people (Nigerian Television Authority). It should be live tomorrow, to discuss the issue of security in the country.”
Earlier, Senator Isa Misau asked why the police were bent on forcefully taking Melaye to Kogi State when the force had alleged that the lawmaker committed the crime in Abuja. He warned that Melaye’s relocation to Kogi might spark protests and violence.
