Melaye’s Fate Hangs Between APC, PDP
Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West may have found solace in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, his defection may throw up some constitutional questions.
Melaye who appeared at the Senate after a long spell with the police and hospital, sought succour among his PDP colleagues, adding that he is no more comfortable with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC where he belongs.
Melaye asked Saraki to help him change his seat so that he could be very close to the former President of the Senate, David Mark, a PDP chieftain.
He lamented that the police attempted to kill him while in their custody and would not want to entrust his life to the security agents, being controlled by the APC.
Melaye who came into the chamber with a collar around his neck and walking stick in his hand. He was helped to the seat by some PDP members.
However, some of the APC lawmakers who were at the plenary kicked against Melaye’s move to PDP as they described it as unconstitutional.
They echoed that Melaye would be going against the constitution if he insisted to cross to PDP. Meanwhile, the senator said that he had since crossed and would announce his defection officially soon.
