Ministers And Their Portfolios

By  |

ElevateNews takes a look at the ministers and lopsided portfolios.

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio is the Minister of Niger Delta and he will be working with the constitutional lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo as his Minister of State.

Before now, Keyamo was the lawyer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that investigated and prosecuted Akpabio for alleged corrupt practices.

The Senator was never convicted because he crossed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

As from Wednesday, the accuse and the accuser will be working together. President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier advised the 43 ministers to entrench synergy among themselves.

In this case, both the Akpabio and Keyamo are expected to compromise their personalities, ideals and principles. Old things have passed away and all things have become new.

The fiery lawyer late Chief Gani Fawehinmi who trained Keyamo would have not only resigned this kind of appointment, he would have sued Buhari for lack of integrity.

Here we are under a government that Pride itself as anti-corruption administration, seeking synergy between an accuser and accused person.

I am not surprised. The president himself did not find anything wrong to work with the former Governor of Bayelsa State Timipre Sylva as his Minister of State for Petroleum despite various allegations of fraud.

I begin to query the Integrity of Buhari over this lopsided portfolios for the ministers.

Or could this be a trap for those who have cases with EFCC? Will Keyamo be working with Akpabio in good spirit or serving as a Watchdog in the affairs of Niger Delta Ministry?

Will Sylva be able to deliver now that he will be working with our president, Mr. integrity, bearing in mind that his movement around the crude oil is being monitored?

The dossiers of the corrupt and the incorruptible ministers are with the Buhari’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari. He knows when to deal with them.

Sylva is in this ministry to carry files. Any attempt for him to look into the files will lead his own file being opened.

He should take lessons from his predecessor, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu who wanted to ask questions about how contracts were being awarded but he was asked to shut up.

I recommend for him, “Want to stay alive” by James Hardley Chase so that he can learn about why he has been appointed to work with Buhari.

Do you know we now have the Ministry of Humanitarian And Disaster Management Affairs with Sadiya Umar Faruk as the Minister?

Do you also know that our new Minister of Power is Sale Mamman from Taraba State?

And do you know that we now have former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola as the Minister of Interior?

He said he did not know anything about that ministry more than what he read in the newspapers.
