Modu-sheriff May Join APC, Meets With Osinbajo
It appears the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu-Sheriff has begun to romance the ruling All Progressives Party in a bid to defect to it.
Modu-Sheriff’ was at the office of Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for a closed door meeting on Thursday, a source said.
Modu-Sheriff had not been in good relationship with PDP since the Supreme Court verdict removed him as the PDP National Chairman and authenticated the position of the party Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
His faction had threatened to dump PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Early this week, some PDP members in the south-south, Niger Delta region loyal to Ali Modu-Sheriff defected to APC.
Before now, Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose had said that Modu-Sheriff was working for APC and that he would not be surprised if the former Borno State Governor would defect to APC.
Modu-Sheriff was accused to have known much about the Boko Haram insurgence and that the kidnap and abduction of Chibok Schoolgirls was a scam.
To many of the PDP chieftains, it is a good thing that Modu-Sheriff has been kicked out of the party. “His exit has brought peace to PDP,” a party member said.
