My Dream Was To Excel As A Christian Not To Become General Overseer – Adeboye
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has said that he never prayed to be a General Overseer but an excellent Christian.
He said this during the 66th convention of the RCCG at the Redeemed Camp on Wednesday, adding that as a pupil, he always cried whenever he came second in his class.
Preaching on the theme of the convention, “Dominion”, Adeboye recalled that he had been approached several times to become President of the Christian Association of Nigeria but he refused because that was not his prayer to be.
He said, “When I became a General Overseer right in this campground, I was alone and prayed to God to give me the power that I did not want to be an ordinary Christian. I asked God to take me home if he would not give me the power. He responded and the earth shook. It shook and the people in Ijebu Ode felt the earth shaking.”
The cleric spoke extensively on why a Christian should not be ordinary, calling on the congregation to join him in his mission to win more souls for the heavenly kingdom.
