N2.1bn Allegedly Found In Patience Jonathan’s Dead Mother’s Account

The sum of N2.114 billion has been allegedly traced to a bank account, belonging to Magel Resort Limited.


Report by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, however, showed that the company belonged to Mrs Patience Jonathan and her late mother, Mama Charity Oba.


According to the EFCC, the summation of money traced to Mrs Patience Jonathan is now N17bn.


Sometimes ago, the wife of the former President Goodluck Jonathan had called on the Federal Government to warn EFCC for treating her like a criminal.

She also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to treat her the way her husband treated Aisha Buhari in 2011.


But to EFCC, the former first lady had been laundering money, using names of her relatives and some of her pet projects that are Non-Governmental Organisations.


“About N17 billion paid into various NGOs owned by Patience Jonathan has been discovered,” the EFCC report says.


The EFCC report also discovered another company Magel Resort Ltd, which was owned by Mama Charity Oba, the mother of Patience Jonathan.


“After the death of the mother, it was discovered that Mrs Jonathan took over the company as the sole signatory.
