NAFEST 2016: HOSTS AKWA IBOM STATE READY FOR 30TH EDITION OF THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND CULTURE

The Director General, of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Mrs. Dayo Keshi has disclosed that all is set for the 30th edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), which is to be hosted by Akwa Ibom state.

She said that the final decision to go ahead unanimously with Akwa Ibom state as hosts was reached at the 45th meeting of Chief Executives of Culture of the NCAC who are the organisers of the event, which held from August 23 through 26 in Uyo, the state capital.

NAFEST 2016 will hold in Uyo from October 2 and end officially on October 9.

Mr. Moses F. Ekpo, the Deputy Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, was on ground to receive the delegation on behalf of the governor and people of the state.

He urged the NCAC to strategize on how to put the country’s cultural heritage in the front light so as to attract global patronage.

With the right mix of tourism and culture, the deputy governor noted that Nigeria could become a global power in culture.

Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Akwa-Ibom State, who also received the delegation implored stakeholders in the culture industry to look at the option of corporate and private partnership for the annual hosting of the event.
