Buhari, El-Rufai And Sanusi’s “Abracadabra” Deposition

By  |

ElevateNews takes a look at the politics behind Emir Sanusi’s deposition.

I doubt the innocence of President Muhammadu Buhari in the deposition of Emir Muhammed Sanusi.

But his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu has denied the involvement of Buhari in the whole saga.

He said that the appointment and deposition of traditional monarchs fall under the exclusive legislation of the State government and that the President could only be involved if it will breach national peace.

However, fresh facts have revealed that the presidency and Buhari in particular, must have supported the moves that removed Sanusi.

As the former Governor of the State, Rabiu Kwankwaso put it, “President Muhammadu Buhari cannot feign ignorance of the dethronement of Sanusi.

He stated that Buhari had wanted him to remove Sanusi while he was the State governor but he refused to implement such order.

Kwankwaso who described the Sanusi’s dethronement as sad stated that the process with which the former emir was removed reflected the level of impunity the State had sunk into.

According to him, the throne of the Emir of Kano is globally recognised and respected but with what happened on Tuesday, the stool has been ridiculed.

Kwankwaso says on BBC Hausa programme on Wednesday, as he alleged Buhari of knowing so much in the whole saga.

Again, I do not believe that the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai did not have an inkling about the plan to depose Sanusi.

Of course, they are good friends since Sanusi’s days as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Investigation revealed that El-Rufai was a prominent contractor for CBN and now that his former friend had been deposed, he must quickly help him out.

While Sanusi had been banished from Kano and detained in Nasarawa, El-Rufai has quickly appointed him as the Chancellor of the Kaduna State University.

One must be very careful of the hypocrisy of El-Rufai in this period of Sanusi’s persecution.

El-Rufai is very good at this and he may not be doing this to pacify the deposed Emir but to popularise himself ahead of the 2023 presidential election, which he so much desires.

In all of this, attention has been shifted to El-Rufai’s purported show of love to Sanusi.

Sanusi has been banished and should be allowed to chose where he will live the rest of his life.

It was gathered that he chose to fly to Lagos with his family on Tuesday but the Kano State Commissioner of Police denied him the option.

This is according to the lead counsel of his legal team, Mahmood who was with him when the letter of his deposition was given to him.
