The Niger Delta Avengers rebuffed the peace meeting between Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Service Chiefs and governors of the oil producing states as it blew up another pipeline belonging to Chevron this morning.

The group quickly took to its twitter platform to report the bombing of Chevron facility, saying it is not part of the peace accord and would not stop the vandalism of oil facilities.

In their tweets, the group stated “This is to inform the general public that we are not negotiating with any Committee. If Federal Government is discussing with any group they’re doing that on their own.”

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a two-week ceasefire in Niger Delta before travelling to UK for medicals, the Niger Delta Avengers rebuffed the order as it continued its spate of destruction.

A military source confirmed that the pipeline belonging to Chevron had been blown up, adding that this is the second time the facility would be bombed by the militants.

Speaking to our correspondent, a staff of Chevron who refused to mention his name said that the company had raised a team of experts to visit the affected facility so as to know the extent of its damage.

He stated, “While talk is going on to resolve the crisis, the militants have refused to sheath their swords.”

This is coming about 24 hours that Osinbajo met with the service chiefs, six governors from Niger Delta Area in which they agreed to share intelligence on how to curb the incessant bombing of oil facilities.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu had earlier called for dialogue between the agitators and all stakeholders, which started on Tuesday.

At the meeting the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa had stated that there was hope to stop the menace of the militants in Niger Delta  but its seems their plan may not work for now.

The militants are bent on destroying oil facilities.
